Shunt resistor placement with loudspeaker autoformer

Post by rickmcinnis »

Dave,

In the midst of re-configuring my speakers which has made me want to review your posts on the loudspeaker autoformer attenuators - brings a question -
would it be better to place the shunt resistor at the loudspeaker instead of at the autoformer, or would it (likely) make no difference at all?

It does make the numbers a little more even - the highest calculated value is two ohms less with the shunt at the loudspeaker.

Does the resistor at the autoformer perform any kind of damping function?

Of course, I should try it but I would like to hear your opinion,

Thanks and take care,
