The impedance of a LC filter section in a power supply as viewed from the amp's perspective looking backwards up the supply. Assumes zero impedance upstream of the filter.

I must admit both of the previous (interesting) graphs are why I have been spending a lot of time building and listening to amps with various regulated supplies.
Have you tried the same sort of thing but with a two stage filter? I found it very hard to convince myself that the variations of impedence with freq was a good thing.

Hi nick, no I haven't looked at more complex filters, though it is easy enough for anyone to do in SwCAD/LTSpice.
The graphs do seem frightening, but I'm not sure they're as fierce as they look. The 10H/100uF case feeding a stage with a 10k load resistor would result in 0.07dB boost at 20Hz. The other combination might be a little more dangerous, but people report that it sounds good overall, so who am I to argue with that?
If you hadn't already figured it out, the posts I put in this thread are just a way to host images that I link to in threads on other forums that don't allow uploading images. I could (maybe should) use imageshack.com or something like that instead. I add a short description here because I know people will look and they might be curious what they're looking at.
