Current cancellation w/ IDHT tube

Post by crazy bill the eel killer »

Hello David,
I know you state this IT is for use with DHT's, but I'm wondering.

My fave output tube is a triode strapped EL84 or SV83. Main reason is I've got loads of HQ tubes of each, and I love how they sound triode strapped SE.

Would this IT work well driving the EL84.

Say from a 6922 or 6N1P, or another EL84 driving EL84 Sakuma San style ?

As always, thanks in advance for your advice.

Cheers, Crazy Bill

I presume the IT will be a 1:1 I between the two el-84's. If so, I can look into how small I can go next week and report back.

Thanks Dave. Yes 1:1

More than likely the input tube will be the 6922, 90v @ 6-7 ma.

Hello Dave,
Your reply got me thinking that the current cancellation scheme is really for current requirements that are greater than what I will need. I'll be using either the 6922 listed above, or a 6N1P-EV ( 200v @ 10ma ). Would it be better in this case to wind me a 1:1 bifilar on a nickel core sized for these currents.

Thanks, Bill
