Hashimoto HM3

Post by SecretStairs666 »

First time poster here.

I hope you and yours are safe and sound during these strange times.

I recently ran across this site, but only after acquiring and boxing up a pair of Hashimoto HM3 transformers for use with my Denon DL-103. They're currently hard-wired at the 1:20 ratio and sound very nice to my ear. My understanding is that the high internal resistance of the Denon makes a 1:10 ratio suboptimal, and that's been my experience with Denon's own 1:10 SUTs.

But I am very curious if better performance could be gained through resistive loading. The Denon obviously likes to be loaded around 100 ohms and the 1:20 ratio puts it at ~118 ohms. Though as Mr. Slagle has pointed out, relying on the transformer winding ratio alone to set loading isn't necessarily the right approach.

Just wondering if anyone here has tried resistor/capacitor networks to any benefit in a similar situation.

Thank you all!
