Aikido (without white CF) or pentode to drive a LCR network?

Post by fvale »

Hello, this is my first post on this interesting forum. I'm trying to get some informations from experts in order to build LCR based tube phono stage.
I'd like to use, if possible, an Aikido I already have for digital sources after the LCR, it uses a 6N2P on the first stage and a 12SX7 (same as 6SN7) on CF. I like its sound and it should be suitable with the high gain of the input tube and low output impedance (preamp is a TVC). Looking around I saw several pentode gain stages driving low impedance LCR networks, but Dave told me he can build 7 or 9K versions. At these "high" values it should be possible to use again an Aikido (without the White CF here). Could someone comment on this? I don't know if gain with such a stage would be too low for a phono stage, anyway I'd be interesting to know if there may be a sonic advantage with Aikido in place of the pentode. Thank you for your help.
