Wiring tx 102 mk3 as AVC

Post by RLRB »

Hello,
Which is the way of wiring a SB tx102 as Avc?
Conectting ++ and 0db attenuation tap?
And primary and secondary? Series or paralell?
Is any improvement over tvc?
A normal dc offset from a modern cd is permissible?
Thanks

Ok, i will try.
Now the primary and secondary are connected in serial. + joined with -- and ++ to hot and - to chasis and ++ to 0 db attenuation tap and to signal.
Do i need the 2.2 microf copuling cap?
Dont know if it minds but is a mk3 clear sheath wire unit.
I dont want 6db gain, i dont need
Thanks

if measured i believe the top end will be much better with just the secondary and if the coupling cap is blocking DC then yes you still need it.

Hi, thank.
The last question, in Faq you say is possible to do a avc autormer with an adittional winding to use balanced. Could this be done using the primary, now desconnected, in paralell with secondary to use xlr?in this case negative would go to chassis and positive to pin 3 and to 0db attenuation tap. Is this nonsense?
Thanks

in order to do balanced you need two identically tapped coils with their grounds connected.

In theory, with a truly balanced source and load a single autoformer will do the attenuation but most audio gear doesn't fit that criteria.
