TUNGAR Power Supply Heater Transformers

Post by Peter Georgescu »

Hi everyone – especially Dave :D

I'm planning to build a Tungar PSU for Field Coil Speakers – two 597 and two 555, to be exact – and so i found Dave's article on Hifi Heroin. Since my main issue actually is to find matching Heater Transformers (2,2V/18A for each bulb) it's obvious that the ones shown in the article have attracted my attention :)

So my question to Dave or anyone who knows about that is: (Where) can i get those? Any hint or contact info will be highly appreciated!

Kind regards,
Peter

I wound those myself. Just find an appropriate (100VA) toroid and strip the secondary and put on 14 or so turns of #9 wire (i used parallel #12).

The actual turns needed will depend on the toroid so bring it up on a variac and add / remove a turn to suit.
