type 26 triode linestage
Hello Dave, Hope all is well. Sent you an e-mail about this. Ready to get going. Most everything in house. As usual, many questions. First, as we discussed a while ago, I'll need a pr.of nickel line output TO @ 4/1 stepdown. From what I've read about 200h primary inductance unless you think somethin...
Thanks Dave, we'll go further w/ this when I start the design of the power supplies. I'm pretty much decided I'll be doing two separate supplies; one for the driver stages and one for the output stages. That will also very greatly simplify the layout. But they'll be your chokes. I wouldn't have a cl...
dual coil choke
Hello Dave,
I know you're still crazy busy, so no hurry here.
I'll send you the new tube compliment soon. All Emission Labs and they're on the way.
I'm intrigued by Lundahl's dual coil chokes. Can you wind a similar item on amorphous or nickel cores ?
Thanks, Crazy Bill

PS choke
Hello Dave, I need a choke for the PS. It'll be CLC, then splitting dual mono via an RC section to get the 290V needed for the EL84, then another section to feed the input stage. I'm figuring maybe a 10H. I'll let you decide amorphous or nickel, and how big to make it based upon my current requireme...

Hello Dave, Your reply got me thinking that the current cancellation scheme is really for current requirements that are greater than what I will need. I'll be using either the 6922 listed above, or a 6N1P-EV ( 200v @ 10ma ). Would it be better in this case to wind me a 1:1 bifilar on a nickel core s...

Transfos needed foe SE EL84 amp
Hello Dave, Per my e-mail, here's the info on the SE OPTs I need. I hit my EL84s kind of hard. 290V B+ @ 45 ma. I use only single driver fullrange speakers, so a secondary of 12 ohms would work very well. Primary 5K. I'll let you decide how much headroom I need in the current rating, I'm figuring ra...

Current cancellation w/ IDHT tube
Hello David, I know you state this IT is for use with DHT's, but I'm wondering. My fave output tube is a triode strapped EL84 or SV83. Main reason is I've got loads of HQ tubes of each, and I love how they sound triode strapped SE. Would this IT work well driving the EL84. Say from a 6922 or 6N1P, o...

Hey guys, I don't have enough on the ball to figure this out, but I can't stop thinking that the quantisation noise inherent to DSD has something to do with this. I'll let you guys with enough on the ball actually figure it out. Felipe, Is there any way you can play a DSD track and see if there's an...

Cathode resistors
Hello Dave, Got the autoformer modules in house and want to get going. Output stage is SE triode strapped EL84. Shared 100 ohm cathode resistor, possibly single 200 ohm for each channel. Bypassed, 200uf w/ shared 100 ohm, 100uf w/ single 200 ohm. Would prefer shared 100 ohm unless for your issues th...

Hello Dave, Built two prototyped versions to compare. First one is listed above, the second is an IT coupled 6922-El84 amp. I'm presently leaning towards the IT coupled version. With both I used my 100K PEG pot. Which begs the following. Since your autoformer modules are replacing the 100K pot, can ...

Sorry Dave, Must be braindead at this late hour. Second question: I like BIG volume control knobs. I know w/ the two pot arrangement on this module I will be limited to the size of the knobs, but my concern is about the weight of the knobs. I will DIY the knobs as large as possible given the spacing...

Questions on autoformer
Hello Dave, Just purchased an autoformer module for use in an integrated diy amp. Was using a PEC carbon pot, but I want to try the autoformer route. Which begs a couple of questions. 1). the amp will be a ( all stages triode strapped ) ef86-el84 SE. Maybe RC coupled, but probably CCS loaded on the ...
