no need for alcohol
dave, i've been using the "stock" LTspice with CrossOver on mac for years. works like a charm and doesn't need wine, spirits or other bottles. and it makes upgrades to newer versions of LTspice easier than having to wait for a new bottle of wine. <http://www.codeweavers.com/products/crosso...

6S4-A
hi stephie it would be super cool if you could add a 6S4-A model to the drop down list with the next update… i have found some models on the web, but they do not handle grid current. the GE datasheet shows a +4 volt curve, and morgan jones reports driving the tube into A2 (or was it AB2?) using a ...

unknown subcircuit called in:
ray,
thanks for the files. i installed them as per your instructions and then added the ZVN0545G to a circuit (with the LT spice directive .inc..)
instead of a sim i get an error message: unknown subcircuit called in: xu1 n001 n005 out1 nmos
hmm... ?

how to translate spice model to ltspice standard?
hi all looks like i'm the first poster in 2013, so first of all a happy new year to you! i'd like to add the low capacitance ZVN0545 mosfet to my standard.mos library to simulate a source follower in a tube circuit. all i could find is a pspice model on Zetex' site: * *Zetex ZVN0545G Spice Model v1....

if only everything in life was as simple :-) THANKS! however, i question the accuracy of that model. i added two HLMP-6000 to bias my 6S45Ï€-spud today. with 188 Vdc B+ the bias with the two HLMP-6000 is 1.6xx volts. simming the same circuit with LT spice, i get a bias of 1.84 Vdc. (actually i wante...

red LED model
i want to simulate bias with HLMP-6000 (aka standard red LED; used to be HP, then Agilent, now Avago, data sheet here: http://www.avagotech.com/docs/AV02-3609EN ). perusing the web i found the following model on http://www.groupdiy.com/index.php?topic=9121.0 : *Typ RED GaAs LED: Vf=1.7V Vr=4V If=40m...

hi stephie primary resistance is ~ 25 ohms from CT to end. let's assume L pri = 48 H (because it's nice to divide by 4...). do i use L = 12 H per winding in spice? and what value do i use for each of the two secondary windings that together form an 8 ohm winding -- L= 0.25 H each? (the CT of these t...

inductance values for PP OPT
i'd like to (crudely) sim a circuit with a 1k5:8 push-pull OPT. the secondary is center tapped and has a DCR of 0.26 ohm; LF -3db point is 4hz according to brian sowter who wound the transformer. what are "appropriate" values for the primary inductance? and is it correct that i have to div...

i'm fortunate enough to be able to compare steve's two LRs with slagle and sowter iron plus my own (built on steve's PCBs; using sowter sowter iron. my mods compared to steve's sowter version: pearl iso sockets for all four D3as, pearl tube coolers for the two input tubes [not enough room around the...
